Ken McEwan is a senior litigation lawyer who joined Hunter
Litigation Chambers after twenty years of corporate-commercial
practice, including more than ten years as a partner with the
Vancouver firm of Farris and Company.
Mr. McEwan graduated from the University of British Columbia with
his Bachelor of Law degree in 1986. He was admitted to the
British Columbia Bar in June, 1987. Mr. McEwan practices as
counsel in both civil and criminal litigation, with a particular focus
on complex securities and corporate-commercial litigation, commercial
arbitration and administrative law at the trial and appellate levels.
Mr. McEwan has been recognized as one of British Columbia’s
leading commercial litigators in both the Lexpert Canadian Legal
Directory and the Chambers Global Directory. He was named as one
of the leading lawyers in Corporate-Commercial Litigation in the 2008 Lexpert/American
Lawyer Guide to the Leading 500 Lawyers in Canada. He is an annual
contributor in the area of domestic arbitration the Lexpert CCCA
directory and has been listed in the Legal Post Best Lawyers in Canada
in the areas of corporate commercial and class action litigation.

Mr. McEwan is the author of "Commercial Arbitration in Canada:
A Guide to Domestic and International Arbitrations" published by
Canada Law Book. He has served as a facilitator for the Court
and Regulators semester of the Osgoode Hall Law School Masters of Law
program in Securities Law. Mr. McEwan is the past President,
Secretary/Treasurer of the Advocates Club. He serves as an
occasional lecturer for Continuing Legal Education, on topics related
to litigation and is a contributing instructor for the University of
British Columbia Law School Trial Advocacy Course. He serves as
a trustee for the Anmore Renewable Energy Foundation.
Mr. McEwan is President of the Sopinka Cup Society which hosts the
national finals of the Canadian law school trial moot competition.
He has been appointed by the Attorney General to serve as a member of
the Rules Revision Committee for the Supreme Court Rules. Mr.
McEwan is a fellow of the International Society of Barristers.
He chairs a panel of the British Columbia Inns of Court project which
was established to foster professionalism amongst young lawyers.

Recent Cases include:
- counsel to Aurizon Mines Ltd. in defence of an attempted
take-over bid;
- counsel in Strother v. 3464920 Canada Inc., 2007 SCC 24, a case
involving the nature of a law firm’s duties and principles of
equitable remedies.
- ad hoc counsel to the British Columbia Securities Commission in
a number of investigations and court proceedings;
- counsel to AirIQ in a take-over bid dispute;
- counsel to Crew Development Corporation in a take-over bid
dispute;
- counsel to Novus International Inc. in competition law class
actions commenced in Ontario, Quebec and British Columbia;
- represented DaimlerChrysler Corporation in class action
litigation;
- counsel in class action litigation in the Manitoba Queens Bench
involving the receivership of a labour- sponsored venture capital
pool;
- counsel to Western Delta Lands Partnership in complex commercial
litigation involving the disposition of Burns Bog;
- class action counsel in the national breast implant litigation
for Minnesota Mining and Manufacturing Ltd. (3M);
- counsel to MacDonald, Dettwiler and Associates in litigation
involving the privatization of BC Online;
- represented the former flight attendants of Canadian Airlines in
relation to issues arising out of the merger between Canadian
Airlines and Air Canada
