The firm's general civil litigation practice includes corporate and commercial litigation, patent and copyright disputes, labour and employment, and expropriation and injunction work. John is a Lexpert rated practitioner in Corporate-Commercial Litigation and has been recognized in both the 2004 and 2005 Lexpert/American Lawyer Guide to the Leading 500 Lawyers in Canada as a leading practitioner in corporate-commercial litigation.

Both John and Peter have extensive experience in litigating commercial disputes, including commercial arbitrations. Some of the recent issues litigated by John or Peter include a contract dispute concerning the development of the Burns Bog lands in Vancouver, a trust concerning the ownership of Vancouver College, a dispute over the enforceability of a restrictive covenant in the British Properties, and a contract dispute over the proper interpretation of the Government's Appraisal Manual for stumpage purposes.
